Hmm if I ever play and won I'd let you know if winning sucks.

But do you mean the lotto to be totally fake?

As in perhaps they pay out people to do horrible deeds but an easy way to get them oh yeah bud we just send you the faux ticket and you claim we got people on the inside?

Friends and family?

Snitches?

Other types of buy outs?

Not rigged.  A tax on the poor and stupid though who play the most.  Fun to play occassionally and dream.

My parents hit 5 out of 6 on a $100 million like 30 years ago in Florida lotto.  I think they only got like $20 or $30k...

I agree it is largely a tax on the poor.
My standard reply to those who asked if I bought my tickets yet was that I already pay taxes enough to the State.

Sure, not only poor buy tickets but if you are financially disadvantaged, those extra dollars spent have a greater impact on those who can least afford to do lottery.

The vast majority of buyers are low income.  They will hit for $1000... not realizing they spent $5000 on tickets.  Nothing wrong with playing for fun though but buying lotto tickets is not an investment strategy or retirement plan!

I buy like $100 worth of tickets a few times a year when pot gets up around several hundred million.  I figure someone has to win.

Eh, it's cheap entertainment for them, I guess.  It's like gambling at a casino (or anywhere else) -- I know people (including pensioners) who eagerly go to casinos whenever they can.

I apparently don't have whatever gene/mindset it takes to find that attractive. I bet on dog races once (someone took us to the races) -- not sure if I ever tried a slot machine.  I'd prefer to play hardcore Minecraft or World of Warcraft or something like that.  At least I get hours of entertainment instead of 25 seconds of excitement for my bucks.

How can it possibly be rigged? Do you think they search through millions of tickets and then fix the machine to only draw balls that do not give anyone a win?

Take the UK national lottery. Would it not be MUCH easier to just draw it fairly when the odds of winning are over 45 million to one anyway?

Your thought process seems a bit, well, thick   Duh
