Charlie "Lucky" Luciano
#1
Much has been written about Luciano and hic organizations, but other than portrayed in gangsta movies, and its especially muddied with so-called mafia romanticizing. His wiki page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucky_Luciano

While we know so much about Lansky taking the money and funding the Zionists in the 1948 "show", we ddont acknowledge the work Luciano did to get the Italian people to unite against fascism.

Its like two polar opposite. Luciano fought fascism, Lansky embraced it. Ok, not exactly, but they let Castro win, Batista was too expensive.

Lucky has quite the story. I'm a huge nerd about Mafia history in the United States. Lucky also helped the US during World War 2.

I've read several mobster bios over the years.
Partly because of the Mafia Mystique, partly due to how that Mystique connects with the JFK Assassination.

I remember Lansky being quite the character, powerful ...but not powerful enough IIRC since they would not let him return to Israel.

Definitely remember reading about how Luciano helped the Allied War Effort.

I like reading mafia/usa history.  It's really interesting.  History channel does some good shows on it.

Good ol' Sam Giancana. CIA used the Mafia to try eliminate Castro since the Mafia had their own reasons for wanting Castro gone after he kicked them out of the casinos in Havana. It was perfect plausible deniability for CIA. As was using the mafia to eliminate JFK. Again, the Mafia had their own reasons, especially with Bobby. RFK really pissed off the mob, but part of me wonders if it went deeper than that considering Kennedy Sr's unsavory connections during prohibition.

There's an interview with the man himself about that.

Wasn't he released from prison to help the war effort?

There were rumours of him being sighted in Sicily, being driven round in a tank with a black flag with a red L on it to tell the local mafia not to fight the Americans
I was very, very drunk

He was very much established in southern Italy in the end of ww2. The tank, I had not read that but I'm happy to take it as true.

Well, Joe Kennedy tried to renege on the campaign promise he made.  I guess he thought he was more powerful than the Mob.
Guess he was wrong lol
