This may be a case where correlation does not mean causation. We could arguably make the same case for UFO's visiting woods or roads, stopping and hovering and ask ourselves what their interest in those.

There are not nearly enough documented cases of this for it to be considered a "thing", in my opinion. It seems more like people are trying to build a case for something that probably doesn't exist. It would be relatively easy to find a sighting of a UFO, then check to see if there is a school nearby, which there probably is, and come to the conclusion that it's visiting the school for that purpose.

• School Boomerang report from Arizona in the 1980's.

According to the International Center for UFO Research (ICUR) in Scottsdale, throughout the 1980s, a huge boomerang-shaped object nearly a half-mile wide appeared repeatedly over the small town of Morenci.

One sighting in particular was seen by hundreds of the residents. The object hovered in place for long enough so that everyone who was outside was able to see it.

More than a hundred members of the Morenci High School observed the object, and described it as being “several football fields” in size.

People throughout the town also watched it. The witnesses all agreed that it was covered with red and white lights on the underside which swept back in a boomerang shape.

The craft was saucer-shaped and silver in color, with a mysterious blue light emanating from its windows. A golden disk perched atop the craft “moved wildly” as the craft hovered. Then, without warning, sparks rained down from the saucer; the craft took off in the direction of the rising sun at an “amazingly fast speed.” The students, declaring themselves to be of “sound mind and body,” attested to their encounter the following day in signed statements, their names and signatures later redacted by the bureaucrats charged with declassifying the case files of Project Blue Book.

• Close range sighting of UFO moving up and down directly over a school - 22nd of April, 1966.

A completely baffling case involving nine witnesses took place on April 22, 1966, in Beverly, Mass.. The women crossed the field to get a better look. They could see flashing lights on the edge of the craft changing colors from red to green and blue. Brenda waved her arms at the object and it immediately stopped circling and moved across the field towards the women. They were horrified. In her statement, Barbara said: "It started to come towards us... I started to run. Brenda called, 'Look up! It is directly over us!' I looked up and saw a round object... like the bottom of a plate. It was solid, grayish white... I felt this thing was going to come down on top of me. It was like a giant mushroom."

The police arrived to find a small crowd of people standing outside watching the closest object moving up and down above the school. Jokingly, Officers Bossie and Mahan asked the group, "Where's the airplane?" When the witnesses pointed to the thing, then at high altitude and looking like a star, the officers laughed. Then, suddenly, the disc turned bright red and dropped to a position directly over the school building. At this point, the officers became visibly shaken. Mahan stated, "I observed what seem to be a large plate hovering over the school. It had three lights - red, green, and blue - but no noise... This object hovered... The lights were flashing..." Bossie said, "It hovered and then began gliding. Some of the people got on the ground and were real scared!"

Interesting case from Russia in 1979. Not a school but a camp with children and two adults while on a trip in a mountains.

...It took place in the pioneer camp "Berezka" (which is located 20 km from the city in a birch grove) at the end of June.

If interested I can post here a case where the tent was seen in the forest by two hunters in the US.

Russia had it's own research of phenomenon project called 'The Net'. The report above is a relevant fragment regarding children involved.
Over the years I came to somewhat a conclusion, the early childhood is best to encounter alien beings or other close sightings. I myself had a sighting around the age of 9. One can digest 'aliens' without phycological impact as one would have in an adult period. Encounters this early in life are crusual in further curiosity and unmistakable knowladge that someone out of this word is here. I do not blame skeptics...one has to see it oneself...the earlier the better, so to speak.

I concur with some case files are being erased...For a exmple, I cannot find some cases which have captured my attention that I have read few years ago on ufocasebook. Just gone.
But that's fine. I'm awaiting batch 3 from DoD on declassified docs. Should come out soon, I think, if 'two weeks' release pattern remains.
